Two coaches, one shared passion, and a hometown we’re proud to call our own. BT607 was created to bring high-quality softball instruction to the Greater Binghamton Area, giving young athletes access to the knowledge, experience, and individual attention needed to develop their skills, build confidence, and compete at a higher level. As coaches who grew up playing in this area, we want to invest in the next generation by helping players reach their potential, become better teammates, and develop a lasting love for the game.
Since Bump and Transue have been on staff together, Binghamton Softball has continued to raise the standard, setting a program record for wins in a four-year span, producing three consecutive America East Players of the Year, and breaking single-season records for home runs, doubles, and fielding percentage — all while maintaining some of the best team GPAs in program history.
We believe in what’s possible when athletes are challenged, supported, and given the tools to succeed. BT607 brings that same commitment to player development right here at home. This is a program on the rise, and we’re excited to help the next generation be part of what’s ahead.
Jess Bump has been the head softball coach at her alma mater, Binghamton University, since 2021, compiling a 142–102 record with back-to-back America East championships (2025 & 2026), regular-season titles in 2024 and 2025, and NCAA Tournament appearances both years — earning America East Coach of the Year honors in 2024 and 2025, plus the 2025 ECAC Coach of the Year award. Before returning home, she was an assistant coach at Lafayette College and the University of Kentucky. A Windsor High School product just outside Binghamton, she was a two-time All-State selection and Section 4 All-Star shortstop who helped the Black Knights win the 2008 state championship before graduating in 2010. As a player at Binghamton, she was a two-time All-Conference selection, the 2013 America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Co-Female Athlete of the Year, and a three-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete.
Michaela Transue is in her fourth season on the Binghamton staff, promoted to associate head coach in 2025 after joining as an assistant in 2023. A hitting specialist, she also heads the New York Rise, a professional women's summer softball team on Long Island. In 2026 alone, the Bearcats hit 85 doubles and 52 home runs while batting .312 as a team — part of the offensive surge that's followed her arrival. Before Binghamton, she was a graduate assistant, volunteer assistant, and assistant coach at Missouri from 2019 to 2022. A Chenango Forks High School product who grew up in the Binghamton area, she was a four-time New York State Class B All-State selection and a Section 4 All-Star shortstop — she and Bump were rivals long before becoming coaching partners. At Hofstra, she helped the Pride to two CAA titles (2015 & 2018) and three NCAA Tournament trips, earning first-team all-conference honors in her final season, and in 2023 she was inducted into the Section 4 Softball Hall of Fame.
A 2023 Syracuse graduate joining Binghamton's staff for his first season in 2027. Most recently the pitching and catching coach at Lindenwood, where his staff posted the second-lowest ERA in the conference and 11 shutouts in 2026. Before that, he worked directly with pitchers and catchers as Director of Operations/Player Development at Louisiana-Monroe. At Syracuse, he served as the softball team's manager for four years, charting pitch locations and catching bullpen sessions before and during games.
A 2026 Binghamton graduate and two-time first-team all-conference infielder, plus a first-team All-Northeast Region honoree in 2025. Her .355 career batting average ranks seventh in program history, alongside an eighth-ranked .434 on-base percentage, a .576 slugging percentage, and a 1.010 OPS that's seventh-best all-time. Off the field, she was the 2025 America East Scholar-Athlete and a 2026 America East Presidential Scholar-Athlete for graduating with a 3.75+ GPA.
Grew up in Maine, NY, right in the 607, where she helped Maine-Endwell High School to two state championships as a four-year varsity standout — a three-time Second-Team All-State infielder, two-time Mary Testa Tournament MVP, and team captain of both softball and soccer. A Psychological Science major, she began her college career at Villanova before transferring to Colgate, where she started all 50 games her senior year, posting a .367 on-base percentage and 18 RBIs with seven multi-hit games.
BT607 started as a simple idea where the name does double duty. BT stands for Bump and Transue, the co-founders — which can also be read as BUILT. With 607 being the area code covering the Binghamton area and the rest of the Southern Tier. A place where some of the best players in program history have been from and where we hope to continue to bring in our next Bearcats from.
One Name. Two Coaches. One Home.
